Description
Fleetmac Wood takes one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time to the dance floor. Closer to a rave than a tribute act. This DJ duo plays disco, house and techno remixes that just happen to be all Fleetwood Mac and solo projects. This tunnel-visioned concept has attracted wild-hearted music fans to celebrate their Big Love for Fleetwood Mac at clubs and festivals all over the world.
Often playing Fleetwood Mac in her DJ sets, Roxanne Roll had observed just how joyful people were to hear the band’s music in a club environment. She had an idea that an entire night dedicated to their music would be a polarizing and therefore exciting premise. Cut to a few years later (2012) and a remix community had flourished online. Many DJs and producers were sharing new versions of vintage tracks and Fleetwood Mac’s extensive back catalogue was ripe for the remixing.
It was a sweaty basement in Shoreditch where the first Fleetmac Wood party was held, launching Psychemagik’s beautifully, balearic remix of Dreams amongst other exclusive edits that had been completed in time for the event.
The tunnel-visioned nature of the project ensured that the mood was ecstatic and celebratory. People danced, sang their hearts out and hugged strangers for six hours of nothing but The Mac. The festival spirit of this party has continued to grow as Roxanne Roll and her partner Mister Sushi (aka Smooth Sailing) have curated and created hours of remixes and have taken the party to underground clubs in London, Glasgow, LA, NYC, San Francisco, Vancouver and to festivals such as Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Festival No6 and Burning Man. The location might change but the enthusiasm from Fleetwood Mac fans is the same Big Love all over the world.
