Description
One of Canada’s most successful bands of the past decade, Marianas Trench have built their name on relentless touring and engagement with their fans through social media. They are best known for their chart-topping radio hits including "Fallout," "Haven't Had Enough," "Good To You," “Cross My Heart” and "Stutter," as well as their creative music videos. Over the course of their career with 604 Records, the pop-rock quartet have had six videos reach #1 on the MuchMusic Top 30 Countdown and garnered multiple JUNO, MMVA and SOCAN award wins and nominations. This summer the band will be performing dates throughout North America, giving audiences a sneak peak at material from Astoria.
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver, BC by triple-threat lead singer/songwriter/producer Josh Ramsay who received a Grammy nomination in 2012 for his production and co-writing of Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop gem break-through “Call Me Maybe.” Marianas Trench has released three full-length albums in Canada with the last two – Ever After and Masterpiece Theatre – being certified platinum. Numerous singles from both have surpassed platinum status in Canada. In 2013, the band won a Juno for Group of the Year and released their Face the Music EP on Cherrytree Records in the USA.
Marianas Trench’s previous Canadian release, Ever After in 2011, was a 54-minute continuous track with 12 distinct parts. Ever After was more than just a musical album; it was a conceptual theme linking all aspects of the project such as the musical narratives with written stories, with videos, and with each live performance.
Marianas Trench is currently hard at work in Josh Ramsay’s studio, fine-tuning the songs that will make up the band’s fourth studio album, Astoria, set to be released late 2015. The first single off Astoria will be available early fall. The band employs endless layers of style and emotion into every song, piecing together subtle intricacies to form one cohesive piece.
