Description
A fan of the English 2-Tone bands The Selecter and the Specials, Jessie Evans learned the saxophone as a teenager and moved to San Francisco, forming the influential all girl new wave quartet Subtonix. Shortly after, she began singing and playing bass and started the Vanishing. In 2004 she moved to Berlin and formed the synthetic duet Autonervous with Bettina Koester of the 80's German all girl dark wave band Malaria!
During her time in Berlin, she also collaborated with Glass Candy, Hanin Elias (Atari Teenage Riot), Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Toby Dammit (Iggy Pop) and Lydia Lunch. In 2013, Jessie relocated to São Paulo where she met Angolan Freestyle singer Pitshu and Dub producers Victor Rice and Kas Dub. The result was the dub smash In love with Jessie & Pitshu. Jessie's newest album Heartwave mixes new wave, synth pop and indie with strings, Brazilian percussion, sax, flute and acoustic guitar to create a lush mix of intergalactic vamp and dark cosmic pop that she will be debuting live this fall!
Bronze have been conjuring up an ever-mutating, experimental post-punk / psych jam over the course of three full length albums and nine years. With dashes of John Carpenter, Silver Apples, Liquid Liquid, Birthday Party, Harold Grosskopf, Klaus Schultze, Cluster, and Brian Ferry with a field recorder taped to his tux jacket, their weirdness feels extra raw and captivating when you witness the ultra bottom heavy dance beats, the hand-wringing and home brewed oscillations and the vocals that are like homilies from beyond the dimensional wall.
