Description
The Olson Band burst onto the country music scene in 2013 when they won a national songwriting contest for their hit song "Sunrise" in the Texaco Country Showdown, winning them a trip to Nashville to consult with a publishing company and being introduced at The Grand Ole' Opry. The band originated in Olympia, WA and is lead by singer/songwriters and brothers Luke and Isaac Olson and recent addition, Kaylee Rose Olson. Since then, the band has released two full length albums “Lookin’ At You” and “Let The Jack Drop” and an EP “A New High”. They have toured heavily up in the Pacific Northwest the past few years playing in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, along with receiving radio time in WA for their singles “Kiss Me Slow”, “By and By” and most recently “If I Find You”. Their single “If I Find You” just hit over 1.5 million streams on Spotify.
The band is excited to release their third full-length album, coming February 2019. The first single off the album, “60 Cent Pocket Man” co-written by Luke Olson, Nick DeLeo, and Grayson Rogers is about as classic a country story gets. “We’ve been playing this one live for a while now and people have really seemed to connect with it. It was written at a time in my life when we were struggling to pay the rent and just to get by, so it has a powerful meaning for me. It’s about sticking to your guns, persevering through the hard times and believing in yourself.” says Luke. 60 Cent Pocket Man tells the story of a broke country singer struggling to make ends meet who loses his girlfriend and then turns down a crooked deal by a music city record man. But he never gives up on his dream and years later finds himself very successful. It’s a song about never forgetting where you came from. No matter where life takes you or how successful you become, you have to remember your roots and how you got there.
Kaylee Rose Olson, who has been singing and writing with the band a few years now but just recently become an official member, shows off her vocal talent and attitude on the song she co-penned with Luke called “Son of A...”. It’s about a tough chick getting revenge on her man for gambling their money away in Vegas - sounds like it came straight out of a Nashville honky-tonk. Kaylee and Luke are known for their tight harmonies, which are showcased on many of the songs on the upcoming album.
The Olson Band puts their raw real life emotions into the power ballads “I’d Do It Again” and “Take Me to Heaven”. “Relationships are great but anyone who has been in a serious one knows that it can be difficult at times and it’s not always easy to make it through the complications of a long-term relationship” says Isaac. The singers reassure that special someone in “I’d Do It Again” that through both the good and the bad, they wouldn’t change anything and they would do it all over again.
It’s been quite the whirlwind for The Olson Band who played around a hundred dates this past year. The Olson Band always makes time to write when they are on the road but had been itching to get in the studio to record. “It’s hard to figure out which songs to record when we’ve written so many. We tried to pick the songs that meant the most to us as well as the songs that we’ve been getting good reactions from at our shows” says Kaylee. The Olson Band has tour dates lined up going into 2019 and is excited for where their next album will take them.
