Description
“Twelve o'clock.
Along the reaches of the street
Held in a lunar synthesis,
Whispering lunar incantations
Dissolve the floors of memory
And all its clear relations,
Its divisions and precisions,
Every street lamp that I pass
Beats like a fatalistic drum,
And through the spaces of the dark
Midnight shakes the memory
As a madman shakes a dead geranium.”

DOMINION returns for a new year of mischief and mayhem, Saturday, January 26, 2019 with two very special guests—ANTENES (L.I.E.S. Records, The Bunker NY | Brooklyn) and ALTSTADT ECHO (Modern Cathedrals, Eye Teeth | Detroit/Berlin). AUSPEX will kick the ceremony off in grand Dominion fashion.
DJ, producer and electronics artist Antenes operates a laboratory of self-made sequencers and modular synthesizers built in the name of rhythmic, sonic, and spatial exploration. Tracing the lineage of synthesizer operation to vintage telephone equipment and inspired by the Buchla 100, her curious studio discipline of manipulating repurposed switchboards was fueled by the desire to breathe new life into long-silenced machines, transforming signal paths through which voices once travelled into sequences that burst with percussive energy and evolving textures, bouncing sound through sound like so many distant AM radio stations on a late night drive. A Brooklyn resident by way of Chicago, Antenes' eclectic DJ sets dive into acid-laced techno, shimmering electro, shadowy atmospheres and beyond. The past few years have seen her keeping busy with well-received and celebrated releases on L.I.E.S. Records, The Bunker New York and more, as well as coming off of a whirlwind year behind the decks of underground events globally, including The Bunker New York, De School Amsterdam, Tresor Berlin, Corsica Studios London, Movement Detroit and more.
Altstadt Echo has accomplished what most up-and-coming artists only talk about: a handful of vinyl releases, multiple festival performances, and the curation of an event series that has become a fixture of local underground culture. His musical signature combines the lamenting atmospheres of Detroit's deeper techno styles with the forward-thinking and textural percussion synonymous with UK artists of the past decade. Drawing from sources of inspiration ranging from minimalist sculpture to Absurdist literature, Altstadt Echo imbues his music with a sense of somber reflection on the lack of inherent meaning behind contemporary life. He's been remixed by electronic music leaders across the world - from Terrence Dixon and Erika in Detroit to Abdulla Rashim and Varg in Europe. Having recently relocated his home base to Berlin, Altstadt Echo will be coming to us fresh off of the debut of his seminal party series at famed underground venue Griessmuehle: Modern Cathedrals Pres. Eden.
Dominion's Auspex will kick the evening off with a mighty dance floor conjuring, fresh off the heels of his own Griessmuehle debut in early January in support of SHDW & Obscure Shape, Reeko and Exium, and following on the heels of the first trickle of his forthcoming production work crashing the party in your ear drums in 2019 (TBA).

The lamp hummed:
"Regard the moon,
La lune ne garde aucune rancune,
She winks a feeble eye,
She smiles into corners.
She smoothes the hair of the grass.
The moon has lost her memory.
A washed-out smallpox cracks her face,
Her hand twists a paper rose,
That smells of dust and old Cologne,
She is alone
With all the old nocturnal smells
That cross and cross across her brain."
T.S. Eliot, "Rhapsody on a Windy Night" (-1915-)
