Event Details

We are FUNKY PEOPLE - bringing you a very special Funksgiving Spectacular with Vavav & Jay Prouty. Join the FUNKY FAM to burn off some to-be calories for our pre Thanksgiving get down. If you've been with us from the beginning you know we dedicate this event series to life & music. So let's cherish the good moments with the people and music we love.

Brought to you be resident DJs & musical curators - Diego Knows (NYC), Sergio Santos (LA/NYC) & Jeremy Ismael (MIA).

VAVAV is the alias of musician, DJ, composer and arranger Emil Bovbjerg. A long-time New York resident originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, Bovbjerg has had a long and varied trajectory in music. His experience as an arranger and composer, writing scores for both small and large ensembles in the modern jazz realm, utilizing classical orchestration techniques with rich harmonic structure makes for an uncommon musical progression and brings about a character in his productions that is at once both contextually integrated and highly recognizable. As a DJ as well as a producer VAVAV is analog powered, deep and soulful with a taste for melodic rhythms and bass lines. A warm, stripped down sound, simple and clear of cosmetic effect. His music is as much influenced by Gil Evans and Oliver Nelson as Jeff Mills and Villalobos and ranges from mood draped, rhythmic soundscapes to playful club tracks.

Jay Prouty (Dojo Sessions, Cenote Records)

Jay is an underground house music dj/producer living in Bushwick, NYC. Jay relocated to NYC a little over 2 years ago from Boston where he was a true veteran of the house music scene and played an integral role in exposing the City to new underground acts (1st appearances for Booka Shade, Peace Division, Seth Troxler) and as a dj has held residencies at some of the best clubs in the City (Avalon, Rise Afterhours). Recent production efforts include a well-received vinyl only EP titled "Dojo Sessions Vol. 1" with David Paglia, another single titled "Style" released on Boston-based Cenote records, a forthcoming remix for Brooklyn based band Kamalata, as well as an EP with Brooklyn artist After Touch.

Sergio Santos (Get Physical, Endless Flight)
Born in the USA, raised in Portugal, Sergio Santos has spent half his life between the cities of Oporto, Boston, Los Angeles & now, his current base, New York City. Sergio Santos is a name in electronic music that has become synonymous with deep techno, dark disco, unique sounds and other world selections. Taking influence from both the United States and Portugal's dance music scenes, Sergio has a sound unique to his life experiences and surrounding environments.

Jeremy Ismael (Faceless, Get Physical)
Jeremy's Afro, mischievous smile and beautiful energy while playing are something that no one ever forgets. He can transport you to places that only exist in an imaginary world and can change your worst day into the best. He never stops dancing and won't let you stop either.

Diego Knows (Cut-Line)
Founder of Cut-Line event series, Diego Knows has a love for people and a love for music that he's fused into a lifestyle. His nightlife sound reflects all the various places and people he has encountered while learning on his travels.
