Description
Hello Japan!
African Acid is the Future is (very excited to be) hitting Tokyo for the first time this November as a collective! This very special edition will be different in that over the course of four days, we will present an exhibition, host daily workshops, offer on-site hair appointments, and launch the Japan edition of our new fanzine Ambiance, in addition to throwing a banging party.
AAITF is a Berlin based party that started in 2014. Since then we have grown into a widely known and respected party night where music lovers can enjoy sounds that truly span a diverse spectrum of music, including obscure gems and unconventional hits. Just this October we celebrated the release of our first record, AMBIANCE I in partnership with The Vinyl Factory, and following a stop at in Mumbai, we head to Japan to embrace a whole new audience. Joining our resident DJs MaryIsOnAcid, WolfOnAcid, and Dauwd will be La Chatte and Tokyo's own Ryota Opp.
Our group exhibition will feature work from Paris' legendary artist Vava Dudu, Camille Bokhobza, photographer and AAITF archivist, and Berlin's premiere hair braiding artist Sara Mathiasson.

Camille Bokhobza lives and works between Berlin and Paris, developing personal photo projects. Bokhobza's ongoing photo series documents African Acid Is the Future from its birth to the present date, offering a glimpse into our particular nocturnal world. As the sole photographer allowed access, Bokhobza shoots analog, using classic in-camera multiple exposure techniques that allow him to create collage-like imagery.

We will also present our very first fanzine, also titled Ambiance in honor of our first record. This first edition was made specially for our audience in Japan with contributions from the entire collective--content of all sorts and an unrestrained testimony of our creativity, slices of our lives, and all that comes along with taking care of African Acid. It is edited by Sekou Younge, a Berlin-based writer from New York whose first play with partner Mia von Matt, One Night Only, premiered at Volksbuhne Berlin last Spring. It is designed and arranged by La Chatte's Stephane Argillet a.k.a. STEREVOID, the visual and sound artist who is editor of Ce Soir magazine, a member of the French collaborative France Fiction, and one part of French new wave duo Peine Perdue.

Because Africa is mother of beat, and beat is tempo. May your hearts beat on our tempo and steps groove with our flow. On an acid trip around Afro rhythms, traveling from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Congo to Ghana, cruising on electronic sounds, cosmic rhythmics and psychedelic vibrations.
African acid is the future and ...^*^
La Chatte
Formed in 2003, the three-headed musical creature La Chatte was born in 2003 in Paris, formed by Vava Dudu, a pluridisciplinary artist, Stephane Argillet aka Stereovoid, visual and sound artist member of the French collaborative France Fiction, and Nikolu, a polymorphous musician. Their music, a kind of post-punk electro-zouk, is rhythmic, dark, distorted, strident and chocolate-flavored. Renowned for their head blowing performances, the band has remained so far quite discrete with its discography focussing on live collaborations with the likes of vivid astro focus or Voin de Voin for example, crossing roads all over Europe. Their first album: Bastet, is a collection of realistic-futurist songs, and could be the hypnotic soundtrack of a dance club haunted by ethereal voices, sharpened guitars and dark rhythms.
MaryIsOnAcid (AAITF, Vinyl Factory, Worldwide.FM)
Founder and matriarch of AAITF, she has performed in the past year for Dekmantel, Montreux Jazz Festival, Venice Biennale, Frieze Art Festival, and Travel Almanac. She has been elaborating the programamation of the night since the beginning and performing as well as DJ and radio curator.
Dauwd (AAITF, Ninja Tunes, Kompakt, Ghostly Int)
Dauwd is 1/3 of AAITF and has had almost a decade of experience releasing music through respected labels and touring the world as a DJ.
WolfonAcid (AAITF, Rouge Mecanique, Rekids)
Romain Azzaro aka WolfOnAcid aka Rouge Mecanique, 1/3 of AAITF, an artist in psychedelism of sound.
Ryota Opp (Meda Fury, Coconut Records)
A respected figure in the Tokyo underground scene since the early 2000's, Ryota is known and trusted for his "wide taste and multi genre knowledge." He was invited to play at one of African Acid's Berlin parties earlier this year, and we are more than excited to bring the party to him this time.
