Description
On August 21st a new installment called FUNKY PEOPLE will commence at TBA and every third Tuesday of the month following. Brought to you by resident DJs & musical curators - Diego Knows (NYC) & Sergio Santos (LA/NYC)
Time to leave your worries at home and come dance to some of the freshest cuts dance music has to offer. An event series curated by your resident technicians, featuring monthly special guests, friends and family of the people behind the party.
Appropriately named 'FUNKY PEOPLE' we dedicate this event series to life & music. Over the years we have lost many friends and family who epitomize the name. For the first event we recognize Navid Izadi. He was a very close friend of ours and a true light in this community.
With great pleasure we are honored & thankful to have good company join us for the launch event. Resident homies Jeremy Ismael & Carlos Chiesa headline the bill with a very special guest to join. Stay tuned!
We are FUNKY PEOPLE.
This month we feature Miami native Jeremy Ismael, resident of the esteemed Electric Pickle. And local legend, in his own right, Carlos Chiesa. To guarantee you won't stop moving we also have a VERY special guest to close out the night that we can't announce until day of. Stay tuned!
Come join us for what will be the beginning of a slight escape from the city on every 3rd Tuesday night of the month.
Sergio Santos (Get Physical, Endless Flight)
https://soundcloud.com/sergio-santos
Born in the USA, raised in Portugal, Sergio Santos has spent half his life between the cities of Oporto, Boston, Los Angeles & now, his current base, New York City. Sergio Santos is a name in electronic music that has become synonymous with deep techno, dark disco, unique sounds and other world selections. Taking influence from both the United States and Portugal's dance music scenes, Sergio has a sound unique to his life experiences and surrounding environments. After drawing inspiration from underground scenes abroad, Sergio came to Boston and began spreading his layered tastes with the masses. At 18, he began the journey, and established a residency in Boston at the Avalon Nightclub. Throughout time, Sergio joined a new team of producers from the Boston area to revive and renew America's East Coast underground dance music culture. This team (Soul Clap, Tanner Ross, and Sergio himself) became known as S.E.C.T. Independently and in conjunction with S.E.C.T. Sergio has had a number of stellar releases, from the likes of labels like NYC's Wolf & Lamb, Art Department's No. 19
Music, Claude Von Stroke's Mothership & Dirtybird, Get Physical, and Endless Flight. In addition to these releases, Sergio is responsible for launching the WeNo Music party in Boston with former music partner Tamer Malki (currently of
Bedouin), premiering some of the biggest names in underground music to an eager fan base in the North East. Sergio now resides in New York City, after bringing new environmental inspiration to his music and playing out to many corners of the DTLA underground. He also has recently re-joined his Bostonian roots, releasing music on Boston based label Cenote Records, along side some other hometown heroes.
Sergio also has played all over the world, notably including London, Ibiza, NYC, Tulum, Los Angeles, Miami, Detroit, SF, DC and many places in between both stateside and abroad. While Sergio's musical voyage may have started years ago,it is far from over, as he is constantly contributing to East coast, West coast, and international underground projects. Exciting things are to come from the new move back to the East coast this time relocating to the Big Apple. Stay tuned.
Diego Knows (Cut-Line)
https://soundcloud.com/diego-knows
Founder of Cut-Line event series, Diego Knows has a love for people and a love for music that he's fused into a lifestyle. His nightlife sound reflects all the various places and people he has encountered while learning on his travels.
Jeremy Ismael (Faceless, Get Physical)
https://soundcloud.com/jeremyismaell
Jeremy Ismael began his journey in the electronic music world while he was in the military in Germany. He had his first gig at Das Boot--a stationary boat that was made into a club. Jeremy moved from Tampa to Miami 5 years ago and got a residency at "The electric Pickle" and hasn't stopped since then. His music taste has evolved a lot since those times in Germany playing now Nu disco, disco, 80's, deep house, techno, deep tech. Jeremy's Afro, mischievous smile and beautiful energy while playing are something that no one ever forgets. He can transport you to places that only exist in an imaginary world and can change your worst day into the best. He never stops dancing and won't let you stop either. After listening to any of his sets or his new productions you will be hypnotized with his vibe and fortunately there is no way back
Carlos Chiesa (Exit The Butcher Shop)
https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/carloschiesa-us
Carlos Chiesa is a DJ who has been rolling through the back-room halls of every manner of creativity, who knows how to grab on to that which is good and synthesize it with his own talents.
A veteran of the dance music community, Carlos has spent the better part of his life collecting records in search of sounds that make his friends move. The intimate parties and private events where he began experimenting with that process have evolved into large scale dance Odysseys where those friends could
spread their wings comfortably, inviting more of their own to enjoy. From being one of the main catalysts in launching the infamous Beef Cuts into the dance-osphere with his 3+ hour weekly Sunday morning/afternoon sets @ 110 Morgan, Carlos gained even more notoriety with his performance at the esteemed "Resolute" 6 and 7 year anniversary party. Having achieved that shore footing on the shoulders of so well established event, his performance that evening earned
him his first international appearance in Switzerland where his digital stylings were enthusiastically embraced by a crowd in perpetual motion. Currently New York City is in the throes of passionate dance with Carlos, hosting his most
eclectic sets at the 'Exit The Butcher Shop' event series this past summer and many others in between. With this record of entertaining all corners, Carlos Chiesa has proven himself a top main stay.
