Description
Garth is a film actor and DJ who cut his teeth with the Wicked Sound System in San Francisco. Parties with his stamp include his All Night Long Loft parties, a coveted ten year residency at Come Unity, twenty four years with the Wicked Sound System and since 2005, Back2Back with right hand man Jeno. His sound is a radical fusion of Acid House, Space Disco & Psyche Rock.
Bringing UK sound system culture to San Francisco in 1991, Wicked's lawless full moon beach parties ushered in an era of Acid House hysteria that ripped through the west coast and spread into the heartland. Wicked are credited widely with kick-starting the City's rave scene in the early 90's, cementing its reputation as the red headed step child of Disco.
Scoring a Tony Andrews designed Turbosound rig, they toured in a '47 Greyhound bus whose previous owners were a gospel choir hitting the road to spread their own gospel across the States. Wicked was the pioneering sound system at Burning Man in 1995.
They brought the best DJs the world had to offer to San Francisco including the first time Bay Area performances of House/Disco luminaries like Tony Humphries, DJ Harvey, Louis Vega, Francois K, Joe Clausel, Roger S, Robert Owens, Stacy Pullen, DJ Pierre and K Alexi.
Garth holds court at many of the world's best nightclubs including Eleven, Mago, Gold, Yellow, Townsend, 1015, The Roxy, Twilo, Fabric, The End, Horsemeat Disco, Sublevel, Thirtynine Hotel, Rex, Room, Lux & Zouk. He has been voted amongst America's top DJs in Urb, XLR8R and DJ Magazines. For many years he pioneered all night Dub sets on the only renegade system permitted at Reggae on the River where Jamaican legends Mikey Dread and Junior Reid stopped by the bus to rock the mic.
The same bus provided inspiration for a record label. Since '98 Grayhound has released 50+ singles documenting an edgier West Coast sound. Artists include Wicked (Garth, Markie, Jeno & Thomas), Rocket, Perry Farrell, ETI, DJ Harvey, The Glimmers & Ray Mang, Darryl Pandy, Michoacan, DJ Rasoul, Nectar, Stranger, Steve Kotey & EBE. Many recording artists launched their careers on the label.
His breakout anthem with E.T.I. 'Twenty Minutes of Disco Glory' shook things up internationally, praised by Muzik Magazine as one of the best dance singles of '96. Since then he has produced 60 records under various pseudonyms working with Anthony Mansfield, Eric James (Rocket), Rob Doten (Crosstown Traffic) and Markie Mark or Jeno (Wicked). His remixes include Freeland, The Units, Faithless, Halo Varga, The Glimmers, Rob Rives, Dada Munchamonkey, Perry Farrell (Janes Addiction), Yabby You, Mutabaruka and Tribe Called Quest.
He has compiled and mixed albums for Om, NRK, Thrive & Grayhound. Grayhound productions have been licensed to countless DJ mix CDs and Garth's music can be found in two films - SF rave flick 'Groove' and Gus Van Sant's 'Speedway Junky'.
Since 2007 he and collector/dealer James Glass have been waving the flag for Golden Goose re-edits, raiding their record collections & respectfully placing Disco/Rock obscurities under the knife as King & Hound.
Remaining true to the original art form, he can be found playing all-vinyl sets out in Hawaii, Japan, Fiji, Korea, Spain, England, Greece, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, even Indonesia and Malaysia, turning parties out upon request.
>> Vakkuum
Coming from a rural town in Vermont isn't something you'd expect to discover when you first listen to some of Vakkuum's music. His raw stripped down sound is music you'd expect to hear from someone who grew up going to parties in Berlin, not hiking around the woods. The talented producer has already managed to get the attention and playtime from some heavy hitters in the club circuit (Danny Daze, Tiga, Dense & Pika, and Brodinski.) With his latest EP 'Speaker Sounds' on Turbo Recordings already being well received amongst the electronic hierarchy the only way Vakkuum can go is up.

' i've been a dj since i was um about ten. a record player, a spindle, metal for the big records, and this circular pyramid for records with the big holes. i am from chicago, but not the chicago, you're thinking of. i live in seattle, but not the setalle you're thinking of. i like rock, hip hop, soul, gospel, funk, but not the rock, hip hop, soul, gospel, funk you're thinking of. my moms played jazz, but not the kind of jazz you're thinking of. i only remember my dad liking, miles and sinatra. but then he left.i was in a gospel group in bible college, but not the kind of bible college you're thinking of. i bought records, because nobody seemed to know how.at least not the people i lived with. i' have played music on turntable, transistor radio, teevee, 8 tracks, cassettes, reels, cd's, usb's,. i've hummed whistled, sang hooted, hooered music, but maybe not the music you're thinking of, in bedrooms ( lots of bedrooms , more bedrooms than i can remember). basements, alleys, libraries, church basements ( but prolly not the kind of churches, you're thinking of ),barns, in the woods, in the desert, on the ocean , in cities, villages, and lots and lots of clubs. for as few as 2 and as many as thousands. all my life but when my best friend john suggested that i be a dj at a radio station for a living, i told him, 'i couldn't possibly, because i didn't have the skills to do something as joyful as that.and then, maybe 2 years later ,i joined a radio station that was almost.thirty years ago.i been there since. I love to eat and to kiss. Music is not my first second, or even 3rd biggest love. When I'm down I pray. When I'm up I pray too.
Words to live by:
A shy ho is a broke ho.
Life is sweet and then you die.
The greatest of these is love!
Thanks for listening and saying so,
love,
always,

>> Rob Noble
Hello, my name is Rob Noble and I've been an active member, DJ, and event producer in the NW since '00. I'm mostly known for Drum&Bass but these days I don't let genres define my taste as I love all styles of music.. I've had the privilege of playing all over this country at large festivals, clubs, ecstatic dances, and under ground parties. I host a monthly club night called DEEP N BASS @ Monkey Loft on First Friday's and produce underground dance parties called "Manifest" which focuses on all forms of art and creating a multimedia experience. I'm also a founder of the Crane Stand, the worlds best portable DJ Laptop Stand (www.thecranestand.com).
Jason Zucker is the founder of Seattle record label/DJ crew/party-makers Innerflight Music and as such has been responsible for the production of a ridiculous number of electronic events and the mayhem that accompanies them. As a DJ, for over 15 years, J-Sun has accumulated a loyal Northwest following through his potent programming, deep crates, and a heady get-down style.
>> Kadeejah Streets
Little known to many, long before the dirty womp infected his brain, it was Mr. Streets' introduction to - and love affair with - the disco sound that saved him from himself...
Following his tour of duty in Vietnam in the late 60's, Streets, disillusioned and alone, his Technicolor American dream shattered, drifted from city to city, making and breaking friendships in days over the most trivial matters such as, "Who the f$#@ got into my Choco Crunch!?" Eventually he made for the NYC where he found himself at home among the gay, black and Latino communities. It was here that he first encountered what was later to be popularly defined as 'disco.'
"I'll never forget it," he once said. "Had I not accepted my friend's invitation to check out this joint called the 'Paradise Garage,' my life wouldn't have been the same, man. That first night I felt like I was rising to a higher state of consciousness. We were all one." Mr. Streets has kept on rising ever since.
