Description
Old school NYC legend DJ DB makes a rare, all-vinyl appearance out of his "DJ retirement" for a Monday night treat at the currently-legendary Bossa Nova Civic Club. DB was a pioneer in bringing UK rave music to the U.S., co-founding the first Jungle record store in America (Breakbeat Science). He got his start DJing in London in the 80s, moved to NYC in 1989, and found himself with a steadfast career in dance music ever since--consistently releasing top records and DJ mixes. He is also known for his work with with Sm:)le Communications, Profile Records, Liquid Sky / Jungle Sky, NASA, Temple Records, Air Liquide, and is currently publishing art books highlighting sticker graffiti and album art.
Alongside DB is beloved Shyboi of Discwoman, who never fails to keep a dance floor on their toes and never surrenders. It's refreshingly unpredictable as to what the Jamaican-born artist will whip out or blend together during her sets, but one can always be assured that the energy will be infectious and captivating.
Echor and Melizards will be opening and closing out (respectively), the two artists met this year and quickly bonded over their passion for old rave music and culture.
