Damon "Dam-Funk" Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008. A '70s baby, DaM-FunK came of age in the era of the Uncle Jamm's Army parties, of electro-pharaoh Egyptian Lover, of Prince's purple reign. It had a lasting impact and after making music in bands throughout the 90s, he started throwing the Funkmosphere party in L.A., bringing the boogie back. It's around then that Dam drew the attention of Stones Throw and both label and artist related to Dam's insistence that "funk is not just a Jheri Curl. There was more than that."

He will be joined by Duane Harriott on warm up. Duane's knowledge of music is hard to surpass, playing everything from afro and latin to world funk, disco, hip hop and soul. He was a cofounder of the legendary Negroclash parties at APT, makes music as Devin Dare (with partner Sean Marquand) and hosts a weekly radio show on WFMU, Duane Train.

Special guest for the evening is Bamboozle, aka Eli from Soul Clap. Eli takes the funk with him wherever he goes, whether it's in his productions for Soul Clap, his work with other artists on his label Soul Clap Records, or on his weekly Lot Radio show. He will be throwing down in a special birthday set.

The early years As children on earth, they were driven to understand the history of dance music and found their teacher in original boston disco DJ Caril Mitro who admitted them into the temple of Vinyl... Known as Los Angeles' "Ambassador of Boogie Funk," Dam-Funk represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere. Headquartered in the Leimert Park section of L.A., Dãm (pronounced: 'Dame' as in Damon) spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-'80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk. As a DJ/selector, Dãm attracts the most discerning Boogie Funk afficionados within driving distance of his storied Monday-night Funkmosphere parties. But it's not just... View More
