Proudly Presents: Krewella
Friday May 4th – Doors Open at 9PM. Limited Early Bird Tickets.
Artist Bio: Krewella is an EDM duo formed by half-Pakistani sisters Jahan Yousaf and Yasmine Yousaf in Chicago, US in 2007. The group’s music cannot be categorized under one specific genre and they continue to dabble amongst house, dubstep, and electronic dance. With friend and producer Krisotpher Trindl (stage name Rain Man), the Yousaf sisters formed Krewella in 2007. They rose to fame through online social media, releasing their first songs via SoundCloud in 2011 including “Life of the Party.” By the year 2012, the group had enough songs to complete and release two EPs “Play Hard” and “Play Harder.” The former reached Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic charts. The single “Alive” from “Play Hard” became an online sensation and has over 15 million views on YouTube. Since then, Krewella has become EDM superstars, claiming festival slots at the Ultra Music Festival, Electronic Daisy Carnival, Stereosonic, Spring Awakening, Electric Zoo, Meltdown and Paradiso. Krewella’s adoring fans are called their ‘Krew.’ The Yousaf sisters cite Chromeo, MSTRKFT, Justice, and Saint as major influences in their music. Krewella’s crazy beats are also influenced by former member Rain Man. Trindl’s background in metal inspired the heavy bass lines of some of Krewella’s songs. In 2013 Krewella released their first full-length album titled “Get Wet” with Columbia Records, which earned a spot on the Top 10 Billboards Hot 200. The title has multiple meanings according to the duo: serious partying, literally getting wet by the water they splash onto the sweaty audience during performances, and having a good time ‘going hard.’ The single “Life of the Party” is the sequel to “Alive” and is considered by the duo as the ultimate party anthem. As of September 2014 Rain Man is no longer part of Krewella.
