Firebeatz
Nobody would want to extinguish the flames generated by Firebeatz, the dynamic Dutch duo of Tim Smulders and Jurre van Doeselaar, who’ve become a true international sensation with their fully engulfed combination of original music, remixes, and big-name collaborations.
Playing mostly self-produced records, the duo has delivered countless mainstage anthems, including collabs with Calvin Harris, Tiësto and Martin Garrix. On the remix front, they’ve delivered altered sides for a star-studded list that includes Rihanna, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Snoop Dogg, James Blunt, and Sean Paul.
“Firebeatz are in my top five dance producers right now,” Calvin Harris declares. “They have many original ideas and a very unique understanding of groove and dynamics that I love.” He’s put his career where his mouth is when he enlisted Firebeatz as collaborators on “It Was You,” a track from his hit 2014 album Motion (following up their remix of Harris’ “Thinking About You” from the year before).
But fans have also come to anticipate their original recordings, which arrive in various forms. Sometimes they go the traditional singles route, as with the recent “Go,” which racked up two million YouTube views in two months. Other releases follow a more unorthodox path, like “Ghostchild” (with Apster and Spree Wilson), the inaugural release on brand new freemium label Spinnin’ Premium. Before that, the duo unleashed an impressive streak of festival hits, including major tracks like ‘Dear New York’, Guitar Track’ (with Sander van Doorn), ‘Helicopter’ (with Martin Garrix) and ‘I Can’t Understand’ (with Chocolate Puma).
Add to this the live Firebeatz experience – no one gets the exact same show twice. Catch them playing to 10,000, 20,000, or even 40,000 people at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Beyond Wonderland in the Bay area, or the ADE Festival in Amsterdam, and you’ll get a very different party than if they’re playing a residency at Marquee in Las Vegas.
They do another kind of DJ-ing now, too, on SiriusXM. The weekly radio show they did —heard in over 20 countries — got popular enough that the satellite channel picked it up in fall 2015.
Meanwhile, their touring schedule is taking them to locations as far-flung as China, Dubai, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and Australia on a regular basis.
Every place they go, they meet enthused crowds, full of anticipation of what’s to come. Because a Firebeatz show is the sonic equivalent of a blow to the gut and a kick in the head. And happily pummeled fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
