Growing up in Colorado, Michal Menert was surrounded by music. During his childhood, Michal’s father exposed him to a wide variety of Eastern and Western music, along with the guitar and keyboard. Additionally, dabbling in a variety of other instruments gave him a unique approach to crafting his own style. Michal’s most significant motivation is “the opportunity to chase a fleeting feeling that comes from certain moments in music, coupled with the privilege of having a platform to give audiences a glimpse into that feeling.” Michal’s connection with Pretty Lights runs deep as he co-produced the debut Pretty Lights album, Taking Up Your Precious Time, and has collaborated with Smith on a handful of tracks since then. His solo album, Dreaming of A Bigger Life, was released on Pretty Lights Music in the spring of 2010. Michal’s second album, the critically acclaimed mega-LP Even If It Isn’t Right, dropped in the spring of 2012. In addition to Pretty Lights, Michal has collaborated with Break Science, Mux Mool, Paul Basic and Manic Focus, among many others. As for the rest of 2014 and beyond, Michal plans to finish a half color EP with Paul Basic, tour with his friends and collaborate with as many people as he can on his way down the road.
