Rising teenage harmonic trap rapper Spotemgottem rose to prominence when his 2020 track ‘Beat Box’ went viral. The song blew up thanks to an online dance challenge on TikTok named the #JunebugChallenge , and has led to Spotemgottem’s track crashing into the Billboard Hot 100 and racking up over 20 million views on YouTube. With celebrities from American rapper Saweetie to basketball ace LeBron James getting in on the challenge, the young Florida-bred rapper has been thrust into the limelight almost overnight.
Spotemgottem grew up in the tough streets of Jacksonville, Florida, and it’s evident through his music that the youngster has already been through a lot. He began rapping at an early age and dropped his debut single ‘Street Gossip’ in 2018.
Following the runaway success of ‘Beat Box’, the talented rapper released his first album ‘Final Destination’ in 2021 aided by a bunch of talented producers including Damn E and 5k 808 Mafia. The highly anticipated release features two of the most relevant names in rap right now, with Pooh Shiesty collaborating on ‘Beat Box 2’ and JackBoy featuring on ‘Blick-A-Thon’. 2021 has also seen DaBaby’s controversial ‘Beat Box’ freestyle become the official second remix of the viral hit.
TikTok may have helped draw attention to the up-and-coming Florida artist, but Spotemgottem is now making his own authentic noise and is set to make huge waves this year.
