Shannon Leto of Thirty Seconds To Mars went from banging on pots and pans as a kid to playing the drums in one of the biggest Alternative Rock bands in the world. The self-taught musician grew up in a home where he was introduced to very eclectic styles of music and developed a real love for playing. For Shannon, playing music is an “obsession”, something he feels compelled to do. “Music settles my soul,” says Shannon, who started the band with his brother, Jared and went from their humble beginnings jamming in their bedrooms, to rocking stages all over the world. When Shannon is onstage performing you can feel his energy ooze into the venue as he feeds off the vibe of the crowd and his band mates. Over the last several years, the band has played to millions of fans on every continent, with the exception of Antarctica, and has been recognized as one of the most influential groups in music today. Shannon counts one of the highlights of his career when Thirty Seconds To Mars received an MTV “TRL” award on a mountaintop in Italy where thousands of fans sang their song to them in the pouring rain. Since then, the band has gone on to win countless MTV VMA’s, EMA’s, Kerrang! Awards and more for Kings and Queens, This Is War, Closer to the Edge and most recently, Hurricane. “If Thirty Seconds To Mars was a human being then the fans would be the veins and the band would be the heart. The fans are what connect the essence of the music around the world and keep the us alive,” says Shannon Leto. Now, with over 4 million records sold worldwide, a #1 Alternative album, a successful world tour, TV performances on The Tonight Show with Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Lopez Tonight and award-winning videos, Shannon has recently begun expanding into other musical arenas. Shannon will spend the rest of 2011 continuing to support “This Is War” and doing what he enjoys most: playing live, writing and developing his DJ/Drum side project along with Mr. Becks, of CB7, who Shannon manages.
