Plastik Jesus

Bio

Plastik Jesus came about when Johnny had the urge to start a new electronic group that would embrace a specific unique sound but not be shackled by a genre.  A brief discussion of his dream with his long time friend Carlos turned into an exciting experiment in the studio that resulted into thought provoking song writing cleverly blended with in your face electronic production.  Heavily influenced by electronic groups and artists such as Pendulum, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation, Sasha & The Prodigy as well as having a heavy influence by rock legends Led Zeppelin, The Police, Tool, Seal & Incubus, Plastik Jesus embodies an open mind and pouring of emotion embraced by midi controlled algorithms & electric energy.

Partners Johnny Drakontaidis & Carlos Galavis have been producing music individually and in other group projects since the mid 1990’s with great success and notoriety.

Over the years Johnny Drakontaidis has been a strong influence in what is hailed as the American break beat revolution with countless of releases and remixes under his moniker Johnny Dangerously as well as collaborations under groups as The Brothers of Funk, Dub Species & Sensei. He was not only one of the first American artists to embrace the British nu skool sound, but superseded all expectations as he was the first American break beat artist to be embraced by two of the most influential British breaks labels of their time, those being Functional Breaks and Thursday Club Recordings with a collaboration with the legendary Rennie Pilgrem on “The Sermon”, which topped all charts and was embraced with rave reviews by some of the industry’s top players, including Hybrid, Freq Nasty, Blim, Hyper & Meat Katie just to name a few. Following with his group Sensei, which was automatically singed by Functional Breaks head honcho Biff Mitchell on a tour of the states, Sensei’s debut release “I’m The Only One” was #8 on the top 100 breaks tunes in DJ Mag, and received tremendous support from all the heavy hitters stateside and across the pond.

Carlos Galavis has had great success as an electronic singer song writer under his moniker Kriya and further more a seasoned producer with a heavy hitting discography to prove it. A classically trained musician, Carlos’s success has been noted with his work with some of the most famous mainstream artists in the industry which include production and remixes for the likes of Neo, Timbaland, Patty Labelle, Christina Millian, Wale, Destiny’s Child, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. He has worked and remixed for labels such as Def Jam, Island Records, Atlantic Records, Ultra Music, Capital and Sony. His remixes have earned heavy rotation on radio stations throughout America, and has achieved top 10 dance chart positions on Billboard. His cutting edge approach and big room sound is evident in all his projects from his mainstream remixes to his underground originals.
