Oumou Sangare was born in Mali, West Africa and has been performing internationally since the 1990s. She has toured with Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys and Tracy Chapman, among others.In 2010 her album, /Seya/, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Modern World MusicAlbum.In 2011 she was one of the winners of the Best Pop Collaboration Grammy with Herbie Hancock for her work on the /Imagine /project.She was also featured prominently in the film Throw Down Your Heart with Bela Fleck.Sangare lives in Bamako, Mali.
