At the age of 24, Jonathan Garcia, known to most as DJ Obscene, has already established a track record that most DJ’s would envy. Hailing from The Magic City of Miami, he is known for his impeccable ability to read any crowd and effortlessly deliver his signature diverse musical style, which is often found blaring through the speakers at South Florida’s most exclusive venues. Obscene’s vast knowledge of various genres of music, including House, 80’s, Funk, Hip-Hop, Rock, Latin and others, has garnered him a reputation like none other for keeping the dance floor moving non-stop. His party-rocking credentials have earned him a spot working with The Opium Group in all of their South Beach venues, exclusively handling all of their Corporate Events, and let’s not forget to also mention residencies at STK Miami and the exclusive Soho Beach House. On any given night you can also find him as a regular at the hottest South Florida clubs including Opium Hard Rock, Red Room at the Shore Club, and Club 50, just to name a few.
Touching his first set of turntables just before turning 15, Jonathan seemed destined to fulfill his dreams of becoming a full fledged DJ. Under the name “DJ Obscene”, he began spinning hip-hop house parties, which quickly evolved to bookings in clubs all over South Beach & Downtown Miami. Over the next 4 years, his talent and hard work would establish him as a power-player in the mixtape circuit, linking up with some of the biggest names in Music including Pitbull, Timbaland, Rick Ross, Flo Rida, DJ Khaled, & many more, eventually earning him four S.E.A. Award nominations over a 3 year span.
With the popularity of DJ Obscene’s mixtapes and his club presence on the rise, he eventually landed his own Friday & Saturday night slots on one of Miami’s most popular radio stations, the Clear Channel-owned Y100. Obscene however, is no newcomer to the airwaves. As a teen he participated in several weekly radio shows on stations WAX42 & Hip-Hop Nation on Sirius Satellite Radio, WPOW Power 96, as well as a Nationally Syndicated 10-Market Mixshow “In The Mix” and AOL Radio (which reached over 225 million monthly listeners). DJ Obscene’s various accomplishments at such a young age earned him a full-page feature in The Miami Herald, Miami’s most prominent & most popular newspaper, all before graduating high school.
Motivated by his achievements, Obscene is determined to continue his artistic evolution. This young DJ is already expanding on the international level, taking his act on the road and spreading his signature sound to the world, one record at a time.
