Description
t all started when Nicola first heard "I feel Love" by Donna Summers produced by pioneer Giorgio Moroder. Those sequenced analogue synthesized sounds infiltrated his blood stream and changed the course of his life. When asked about his affair with house music, he quotes Diana Ross's lyric "If there's a cure for this, I don't want it".
Nicola's seamless late night sets are filled with throbbing percussion, sleazed out intensity and warm, inviting house grooves. A true craftsman behind the decks, Nicola is capable of venturing into tribal, tech and progressive territory without losing any of the organic magic of true house music.
Apart from having held down some of the most legendary residencies in the city's history, Nicola is also synonymous with a host of otherworldly evenings at such spots as Playground, Aria, Sona, Stereo, RedLite and Circus. Apart from these magical evenings, Torriero's name is also synonymous with Montreal’s legendary Bal En Blanc. Proudly accepting his position as the founding father of this event, Torriero has since handed over the helm to other Montreal- based movers n shakers who continue to make this event an annual must!
Feeling equally at ease in the studio as behind the decks. Torriero has managed to create quite an impressive discography of original material over the years. Perhaps most impressive are his spiritualized anthems created for Divers Cite. Having been specifically requested to create the original music for the closing event of Montreal’s Gay Pride week since 2002, Torriero continues to outdo himself with each passing year. 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007's event showcased not only Torriero’s epic production; he also got the call to deliver the coveted closing DJ set. A sea of thousands strong witnessed this magical open-air set. In addition to these achievements, Torriero was also specifically chosen to provide original material for the opening gala of the infamous Black & Blue event.
