Description
Introducing Lee Walker; a down to earth and talented DJ/Producer. Lee hails from the town of Middlesbrough in Teesside, yet his output is pure Balearic; solid, sundrenched house grooves with garage influences, a stark contrast to his roots growing up immersed in the local North East rave scene that initially inspired the likes of Patrick Topping.
Lee became a proficient vinyl DJ while he was still at school, and by age 17 he had already had his first vinyl press in the region specific Makina genre, however it was a lecturer at college, that first introduced Lee to House music and the DJ life, which saw him quickly jumping ship to master this new style that captured his imagination.
One half of live production outfit Groove Syndicate with good friend and aforementioned college lecturer Lee Pennington, and since mid 2014 the newly appointed A&R for respected Montreal based imprint Mile End Recordings, Lee has begun to make his mark in the industry over the last two years.
From his debut releases ‘Strangers’ on Two House Recordings, and 2012’s “The Introvert” netting the #6 spot in the Traxsource Tech House Chart, multiple exports with Savoir-Faire and more recently with Love Not Money and Little Helpers; to his residency for the North East’s fastest growing tech house party Solar Knights, alongside guest spots at Zoo Project Ibiza and Festival at Donington with Groove Syndicate; Lee is carving out a name for himself as substantial contributor to the House and Tech scene not just in the UK but also on the White Isle.
Lee teamed up with fellow NE born artist Jacky for Summer 2015’s ‘Gotta Get’, which secured support from Groove Armada, Russ Yallop, Paco Osuna, DJ T, Loco Dice and Marco Carola, who played the track across a whole host of parties in Ibiza this season, including Music ON at Amnesia and Circo Loco at DC10. However his breakthrough moment came this September in the shape of video footage taken at Amnesia of his unofficial re-edit of DJ Deeon’s ‘Freak Like Me’ by one of the Ibiza Spotlight team and proceeded to go viral, with views up into the half a million at the time of press. The bootleg was championed by the likes of Disclosure, Eats Everything and Justin Martin.
2016 will see his first vinyl release since his teenage years on Sascha Sonido’s label Straight Ahead, a new EP with Draft and a cluster of remixes for a selection of highly regarded artists yet TBA, further responsibilities with Mile End plus the expansion of his label Groove Syndicate Recordings, and further development of the live element to his
performances with Lee Pennington.
