Description
At age 14, Iron Lyon began pursuing his passion for DJing by studying the masters, entering battles, and producing mixtapes. By age 16, Lyon made his way into the club circuit after joining forces with True Productions—owners and operators of The Asylum in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was there, playing in front of thousands of people, that Lyon gained recognition sharing stages with some of his idols like Roc Raida, DJ Craze, AK1200, Roni Size, and others.
At age 18, Iron Lyon set his sights on New York City. Living there for over a decade, he held esteemed residencies at hot spots such as Greenhouse and Santos Party Haus--performing with the likes of DJ Premier, Q-Tip, Questlove, Funk Master Flex, Just Blaze, Kid Capri, and Biz Markie. In that time, he also toured the US, Japan, and Canada & became a member of Faction Sound, a Vancouver based DJ crew.
Currently, Iron Lyon resides in Miami where he can be found spinning regularly at FDR, Story, Mokai, Wall, Pangaea and SL. He continues to combine his roots in turntablism, natural creative aptitude, and knack for reading a crowd with a diverse blend of hip hop, reggae, r&b, classics, house, electro, indie, and other musical genres.
In addition to his career as a DJ, Iron Lyon is an established MC who has recorded and released two full-length albums and two EPs--featuring MC's Sean Price, Craig G, Edo G, and Slim Kid Tre--showcasing his lyrical abilities as well as his scratching skills.
Whether it's from behind the turntables or on the microphone, Iron Lyon demonstrates his unwavering dedication to the art form, to the people, and to the music.
