Joey Verrando, aka HE$H (aka a lot of other monikers I’ll leave to him to list himself), is a man unto himself. His authenticity shines through his music, his art, and his entire self.
Perhaps that’s why he’s already somewhat of a cult hero in his hometown of Dallas and is beginning an explosive rise in the electronic music world. His production talent and sharp ear for beats have newcomers and fans alike clamoring for more.
He’s out on tour with Blunts & Blondes and Bommer right now, but ahead of his hometown show at Wobbleland 2018 (in Dallas thanks to PRIME Night Culture), he spoke with us to give us a little insight about what he’s all about.
Can you give us a little intro into who you are and what you’re about?
I’m a producer from South Dallas, Texas named HE$H, aka HE$HMANE, aka Da Skinny Juice Pimp, aka Afdallastan Soldier, aka Young Burner.
How’d you get your current moniker HE$H? What does it mean?
I’ve always been into the punk scene, and, since I skated a lot at the time, I thought the name would fit into my style.
How did you get into dubstep?
When I was like 12 or 13, my sister showed me a random ass dubstep CD, and I got interested in how all the sounds were made. It had the most energy to me.
Are you excited to play a show in your hometown? Is the experience different than being on the road?
I rep triple-D hard as hell. I enjoy playing my city more than other places cause I love seeing other Dallas mothafuckas going wild for my shit. It means a lot having support from my city.
Have you had a chance to play much with the other artists on the tour? What are your impressions of them?
Right now, I’m on a tour wit Blunts & Blondes and Bommer. I just recently linked up wit Blunts, but Bommer my father for a phat minute. They both tha homies 100%.
Any upcoming projects you’re excited about?
I got a huge project I’m workin’ on that will be revealed soon. Burner Posse just saying fuck it.
What’re your favorite places in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to hang out when you’re home?
ALL OVER 214 BRRRR.
