Brouillon | Français Quand My Bloody Valentine rencontre Dance Dance Revolution… Ainsi pourrait s’imager l’univers sonore à la fois coloré, apocalyptique et sensuel de Country. Le duo né de la rencontre du chant aux échos new-wave de Jonathan Sheppard (aka Beaver) et du virtuose des synthés David Whitten (aka Mr Lavender) a sérieusement épicé la scène synthpop montréalaise avec « Failure », premier album sorti en septembre 2014 sur Summercool Records. Depuis, ils ont sillonné lieux underground ci et là, passant par Toronto, Paris, Berlin, mais aussi des festivals de réputation internationale comme Pop Montréal et M Pour Montréal. Décalé et largement inspiré par des artistes qui fusionnent musique et performance artistique comme Psychic TV, Nina Hagen, Klaus Nomi, Suicide, Grace Jones ou Yoko Ono, Country livre sur scène une énergie hors concours. 2016 marquera leur retour en studio avec la sortie d’un second album. Co/ntry by name, but not by nature, is born by the encounter of the savant-folk bad boy Jonathan Sheppard (aka Beaver) with the synth virtuoso David Whitten (aka Mr Lavender). The duo recorded a first opus in 2014, « Failure », on Summercool Records, which spiced up the Montreal’s synthpop scene. Since then, they have roamed and electrified underground venues, from Toronto, Paris, Berlin, to internationally renowed festivals such as Pop Montreal and M for Montreal. Widely inspired by artists merging music with performance art such as Psychic TV, Nina Hagen, Suicide, Klaus Nomi, Grace Jones or Yoko Ono, Co/ntry is dystopic and quirky. Three years of standout shows lead them today to their anticipated second album in which they will celebrate a "Brave New World".
