Pegasus Warning Details
At this point you probably have a lot of questions. This man, this band...what is it? Who is it? It’s a vibration you’ve never heard, an energy never felt, a sonorous phantasmagoria never experienced.
PEGASUS WARNING is the soulful noise&B brainchild of frontman Guillermo E. Brown’s own defiantly dynamic visions, co-signed by collaborations with artists such as Twin Shadow, Das Racist, Gordon Voidwell, Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, Saul Williams, Mocky, Spoek Mathambo and many more.
Born to an American ethnomusicologist-healer and Panamanian priest-wizard, Brown’s vision has long been in the making. He immersed himself in the thoughts of teachers, visionaries and vagabonds alike until this supernova of experimental R&B and soulful synth-pop was conceived in 2010 on tour with Jamie Lidell, when the two co-produced a slew of songs that would soon become PEGASUS WARNING. As Brown continued to develop the PEGASUS sound, he began writing with producer and DJ mastermind Robert Lux. With their powers combined, PEGASUS WARNING was born.
The PEGASUS hoof struck solid ground, thunder bellowed, and artistic forces collided to create a unique mix of lyricism and soulful, percussive splendor that has garnered support from tastemakers such as Okayplayer, The New York Times, Brooklyn Vegan, Spin and artist-visionary Wangechi Mutu who directed the video for “Try So Hard," and filmmaker Harmony Korine who dubbed the project the “male Chaka Khan.”
Since then, PEGASUS WARNING has performed at Music Frees All Festival, Brooklyn Bazaar, headlined Brooklyn Bowl and Glasslands, secured a residency at Bowery Electric, and gigged at BAM, MoCADA's Block Party, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Brooklyn Museum, Weeksvile, Terminal 5, House of Blues Boston, Paradise Rock Club, and supported artists ranging from The Temper Trap, Antibalas, to Twin Shadow, and Spoek Mathambo's North American tour.
